About Me

Bible Study - His Good Wrd

Here’s my story. I’m a 65 year old woman and have been a Christian my entire life. I was baptized in the same Catholic Church as my mom, attended the same Catholic Elementary School as my mom, and then graduated from an all girls Catholic High School (not the same one as my mom).

Funny thing … in all those 12 years of Catholic schooling, I can’t remember any of my religion teachers opening the Bible and reading verses for us to learn and discuss in class. The only time I heard any scripture was during the liturgy at Mass, right before the Priest gave his Homily.

And the liturgy was not up for discussion during mass. You listened to the priest talk about the readings in the Homily, as he explained the mysteries of faith and Christian living. He would express how the Scripture passages apply to the current situation of the faithful and how to apply Gods words to better your life. That’s how it’s done in the Catholic Church – no questions asked.

I would often think about what I had heard and read at mass or in religious discussions with my husband and would look up certain scriptures and tried to decipher what they really meant on my own. But I always got lost in the translation which only seemed to confuse me even more. And then I would just give up.

A while ago my two grandchildren were Baptized. It was at that time that I had a conversation with a young Christian girl about our faith. She was so well versed and really knew her stuff. I was very impressed and wanted to learn more.

I told her of my prior struggles with reading the Bible and she suggested I read the New Testament first. Doing this would make understanding the Old Testament much easier.

And seeing that I’m once again struck with this burning desire to understand the writings of our Lord and to strengthen my faith, I took this young girls advice and began reading the New Testament – starting with The Gospel According to Matthew.

If you have the same desire to know what our Lord has written and want to understand his love letter to us, then please follow along. I will post the chapters and verses on YouTube (the links will be in the menu) for anyone who wants to learn in audio form, as well as the chapters and verses written out (the links will be in the menu) for those who would rather just read them quietly to themselves.

I will summarize each chapter to the best of my ability and welcome all feedback. Let’s strengthen our faith together and help one another understand His Good Word.

NOTE: All the chapters and versus are not available at this time as this is a Bible Study in progress. But I will be posting the videos and writings as I do them myself, which so far has been daily.
